Doug Wood, Dora Anna Mills and Shelley Cohen Konrad submit Northern Maine IPCP Summit summary to 'National Center for Interprofessional Practice and Education'
Doug Wood, Ph.D., D.O., dean of UNE’s College of Osteopathic Medicine; Dora Anne Mills, M.D., M.P.H., vice president for Clinical Affairs; and Shelley Cohen Konrad, Ph.D., LCSW, director of the Center of Excellence in IPE, authored a summary of the Northern Maine Interprofessional Collaborative Practice (IPCP) Summit held on April 14. This summary was featured on the National Center for Interprofessional Practice and Education website.
Their summary described the Northern Maine IPCP Summit’s goal to raise awareness about efforts to improve team-based care and to continue growing these efforts in the state.
The article also discussed the positive impact that increasing the number of IPE students in rural areas will have, including raising the quality of patient care in underserved areas while addressing healthcare shortages in rural Maine. By implementing these efforts, students will receive hands-on experience to improve their skills and communities will benefit at the same time.
