Marilyn Gugliucci co-authors article in Maine Policy Review

Marilyn R. Gugliucci, Ph.D., professor, director of Geriatrics and Research and secretary and founding board member for the Maine Council on Aging (MCOA) co-authored an article published in the Maine Policy Review Special Edition on Aging.

This Maine Policy Review Special Edition puts forth the work from the Maine Aging Initiative generated by the MCOA in partnership with Maine Speaker of the House Mark Eves. The goals of this initiative were to emphasize two major themes: That older adults are vibrant and critical contributors to society and our economy and that no one institution or group has the capacity to solve the challenges we face – that it will take a community response supported by all parts of the economy and government to address these issues.

The fifth article in the Special Edition presents the outcomes of the MCOA Higher Education Workgroup chaired by Gugliucci and Jeff Hecker, UMaine Provost. The article is a culmination of 12 months of effort to research Maine colleges and universities regarding their work in aging research and curriculum inclusion of aging related topics. UNE and UMaine are the leaders in both areas.
