A group of 18 students and faculty from the University of New England’s Department of Exercise and Sport Performance returned to Montreal, Quebec in April of 2016 to visit the international headquarters of Cirque do Soleil and meet with Performance Medicine (PMed) staff. The department has made the trip to Montreal an annual one for faculty and students.

PMed director Anna Vicente provided a personal tour of the state-of-the-art training headquarters and held a question and answer session designed to give applied exercise science and athletic training students an idea of the necessary education and training needed for a career in elite-level performing arts. While in Old Montreal, the group was also able to take in a performance of Cirque's newest production, Luzia, under the Big Top.

In addition to the visit to Cirque du Soleil, faculty and students participated in a guided tour of Olympic Park, the site of the 1976 Summer Olympics, which focused on the continued use of the facilities for recreational and competitive fitness and sport.
