UNE students and faculty partner with Portland Public Library for Community Health Fair

The University of New England, in partnership with the Portland Public Library and with support from the City of Portland’s Cumberland District Public Health Council, hosted the first Community Health Fair on October 18, 2016.

The free public event provided public health education, flu shots, screenings and outreach from student and faculty volunteers UNE’s Westbrook College of Health Professions, College of Dental Medicine and College of Pharmacy. They also provided information and activities to support healthy and happy self-care with topics such as proper nutrition, oral health, exercise, stress management and staying healthy in the winter.

The family-friendly event also included fun, interactive games and crafts provided for kids’ entertainment as well as a teen specific program focusing on informing teens on what to expect at a physical exam and resources on issues that affect teens, such as bullying, social media and drugs.
