Leading publications in Morocco highlight the University of New England and its students

UNE Tangier, Morocco Campus students sing the national anthem

As is often the case, UNE students who spend a semester in Morocco learn Morocco’s national anthem, singing it to show their knowledge of Arabic and express their gratitude to Morocco. In January 2017, video of the students singing went viral, catching the attention of Telquel, the most prestigious Moroccan magazine in French, Morocco World News, the leading English news outlet about Morocco, Akhbar El Yom and News Africa Now.

The video featured 20 students accompanied by the oud, one of the most popular instruments in Middle Eastern music.

Completed in 2014, UNE’s Tangier, Morocco Campus is educational and cultural initiative created to foster international understanding. It serves as a global education site from which students can explore the history, beauty and diversity of Morocco, and as a community resource for Tangier residents.
