UNE geriatric research presented at world’s largest international conference on aging

Marilyn R. Gugliucci, Ph.D., of the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine’s Division of Geriatric Medicine, presented four research projects at the International Association for Gerontology and Geriatrics World Congress, the largest worldwide conference on aging.

This year’s conference was held in San Francisco, California. It was the first time in 30 years the International Congress was held in the United States. The theme was “Global Aging and Health: Bridging Science, Policy and Practice.”

Gugliucci gave four presentations. Two oral presentations included the, “48-Hour Hospice Home Immersion Project: Innovative Medical Education Research” during a paper session titled, “Unique Perspectives in Understanding End-Of-Life Care Experiences.” She also co-chaired a symposium in which she presented, “Gerontological Competencies, Program Development, and Accreditation For Gerontology Education.” Two poster presentations included, “In-Home Balance Improvement and Falls Prevention Programming” and “The Mentoring Switch: Two-Way Mentorship Program.” The abstracts for each presentation were published in the International Association for Gerontology and Geriatrics journal, Innovation aging.
