An exhibition of art work titled “Raptured Moment, a work in progress: a series of black and white silver gelatin prints” by Joseph Della Valle, adjunct assistant lecturer at UNE in the Department of Creative and Fine Arts, will be on display at the university’s Biddeford Campus Center from October 2 until November 14.

The exhibit reflects experiments with multiple exposures, the body in motion, time and space. Della Valle’s images are produced using film and traditional methods to conjure phantasmagoria (optical effects and illusions) and liminal spaces between reality and the subconscious. He says he “disturbs the moment, making the predictable unpredictable.”

Della Valle teaches traditional black and white film photography at UNE and is the founder of Safelight Studio in Portland, where he instructs privately, offers workshops, refresher courses and youth programming. He has been an educator for more than 20 years, exhibits regionally, and engages with the community in a myriad of ways.

The exhibit is free and open to the public. UNE’s Campus Center is located at 11 Hills Beach Road, Biddeford, Maine. Hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. For more information, contact Diane Noble by email or phone (207-284-6394).
