Brian Duff, Ph.D., associate professor and chair in the Department of Political Science, was quoted in a March 16 Portland Press Herald article about Senator Susan Collins’ recent statement that she does not support the House Republican health care bill that is being debated in Congress as a replacement to the Affordable Care Act.

According to the article, Collins has publicly stated that the bill, as it is currently proposed, would be detrimental to low-income seniors.

Duff said that it was time for Collins to speak out against the proposed bill. “Being vague was not winning her any points,” he said. “I know she was getting a ton of calls. It was time for her to cut ties and disassociate herself with a bill that was so unpopular.”
