UNE’s Biddeford Campus Center presents 'Recent Watercolors' by artist Russel Whitten

An exhibition of art work titled Recent Watercolors by local artist Russel Whitten will be on display at the University of New England’s Biddeford Campus Center until February 5.

Working primarily in the pleinair style, Whitten has captured vignettes from Old Orchard Beach to Kennebunkport, Maine, working mostly in watercolors.

Whitten is a member and showing artist of the Ogunquit Art Association and has taught drawing and watercolor painting for the last 15 years at institutions including Rivertree Arts in Kennebunk, Sanctuary Arts in Elliot, Old Orchard Beach/ Saco Adult Education and the University of New England. A protégé of the late DeWitt Hardy, Whitten studied at the Art Students League of New York, Maine College of Art in Portland and Heartwood College of Art in Kennebunk.

The exhibit is free and open to the public. UNE’s Campus Center is located at 11 Hills Beach Road, Biddeford, Maine. Hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. For more information, contact Diane Noble by email or phone (207-284-6394).
