An exhibition of artwork, titled “flotsam and jetsam,” by local artist Alex Rheault will be on display at the University of New England’s Biddeford Campus Center from October 2 to November 8.

The exhibition is composed of a series of paintings that pair objects from observed references with objects from imagined references. Unresolved and somewhat cryptic, the paintings and drawings reflect incompleteness and constant change. “Life is a cycling of discarded and salvaged loot, fleeting moments, and residual sensations,” the artist noted.

Rheault is a local artist and writer, originally from Washington, D.C. She is an adjunct assistant lecturer in the University of New England’s Department of Creative and Fine Arts, where she teaches art and design fundamentals in 2D, 3D, and Drawing and Design courses.

Rheault is the founder of “drawing room,” which she describes as “a roving collaboration in which drawing and community collide.” She also curates throughout the region.

The exhibit is free and open to the public. UNE’s Campus Center is located at 11 Hills Beach Road, Biddeford, Maine. Hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. For more information, contact Diane Noble by email or phone (207-284-6394).
