The College of Dental Medicine’s chapter of the American Association for Women Dentists (AAWD) recently held its first event of the current school year.

Organizers say “Cultural Nights” was a big success.

The event allowed for a casual night of networking among students, professional staff and faculty, helping everyone learn more about different cultures and diversity.

People wore items associated with their culture and bought snacks that represented their ethnicity.

Those in attendance had fun filled interactions, sampled different cuisines and received henna tattoos.

The evening wrapped up with dancing to the tunes of global music.

Jyoti Sonkar, B.D.S., M.S.D., M.P.H., assistant clinical professor, and Shaista Rashid, B.D.S., M.S., assistant clinical professor, serve as co-advisors for AAWD.
