The University of New England has been selected to host the 2020 New England Association for College Admission Counseling (NEACAC) Annual Meeting and Conference.

The event is expected to bring hundreds of high school guidance counselors, independent college counselors, and higher educational professionals from across the region to UNE’s Biddeford Campus.

“We are delighted to host the 2020 NEACAC conference at our beautiful waterfront campus in Biddeford, Maine,” stated Darcy Flaherty, M.S., UNE director of freshman admissions. “A lot has changed at UNE since we last hosted this conference back in 2012, and we look forward to welcoming our participants with the best that UNE and Maine have to offer.”

School counselors make a difference in the lives of college-bound students by helping them make the transition to postsecondary education and achieve their goals. The three-day NEACAC Annual Meeting and Conference will help enhance their passion by combining professional development programs, leisure activities, and the opportunity to connect with admissions and counseling professionals from across New England.

The event provides an excellent opportunity for UNE to highlight its programs, facilities, and location. Attendees can explore the UNE campus and take a bus tour to visit other prestigious colleges and universities throughout Maine.

The purpose of NEACAC is to establish and maintain high professional standards in admissions, financial aid counseling and school counseling at secondary schools, colleges, and universities. There are now more than 3500 NEACAC members from every state in New England, with other memberships throughout the United States and internationally.

“The Annual Meeting & Conference is an important time to reconnect, reflect and learn,” commented Christina Doyle, executive director of NEACAC. “It is an annual tradition that inspires our members to consider ways to better serve students on their educational journeys and to put ideas into action.  We are thrilled to return our conference to UNE's beautiful campus and celebrate the year ahead.”

The 2020 NEACAC Annual Meeting and Conference will be held May 27 to May 29, 2020.
