The University of New England is pleased to announce it will be offering an expanded roster of online and on-campus courses during the 2023 summer session.

While summer courses have been available for students in past years, this is the first year the University’s online and on-campus course catalogs have been combined for the convenience of on-campus undergraduate students. Current on-campus students can easily find the expanded selection of courses within the course registration website they use every semester.

This year, UNE’s summer courses are being offered to on-campus students, current UNE Online students, and even students who might be entirely new to UNE. Students will have a different selection of courses available to them depending on whether they are a current UNE on-campus student, a current UNE Online student, or are new to UNE.

With over 80 summer courses — from Urban Forestry (ENV 204) and Scientific Illustration (ART 111) taking place on the Biddeford campus to General Chemistry and Public Speaking being offered online — UNE’s summer session will help busy students meet their academic goals or explore new areas of interest.

“The University of New England is committed to supporting students all year long,” said Gwen Mahon, Ph.D., UNE’s provost and senior vice president for Academic Affairs. “This expanded offering of summer courses will allow our students to stay on track for graduation through engaging, high-quality learning experiences. Plus, these programs are a great way for any student to get to know UNE.”

Students who take courses over the summer will benefit from the expert faculty and personalized instruction for which UNE is known. By enrolling in a course or two over the summer, students have the opportunity to catch up on major or minor requirements, satisfy a general education requirement, or explore a new academic area of interest.

UNE’s summer session is available in six-week and 12-week formats where the courses are split into three terms:

  • A Term (May 22 to June 30)
  • AB Term (May 22 to August 11)
  • B Term (July 5 to August 11)

Summer registration is now open for UNE Online students and non-UNE students seeking to take classes during either the A Term or AB Term. Registration for the B Term will open in early May for UNE Online and non-UNE students.

Registration for on-campus students opened on April 7 for all summer terms.
