UNE COM alum selected president-elect of national immunology organization
An alum of the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine has been selected as president-elect of the American College of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology (ACAAI).
James Tracy, D.O. ’84, was installed as president-elect of the prestigious society at the ACAAI Annual Scientific Meeting in Anaheim, California, on Nov. 12. He will assume presidency of the organization at next year’s Annual Scientific Meeting in Boston.
Founded in 1942, the ACAAI is a professional medical organization of more than 6,000 allergist-immunologists and allied health professionals. Members of the college work collaboratively and with others toward the common goals of patient care, education, advocacy, and research.
“The formative years as well as the diverse clinical training I received at UNECOM was as incredible professional foundation,” Tracy said. “I am a proud and appreciative UNE alum.”
Tracy is a board-certified allergist and immunologist based in Omaha, Nebraska, who has 33 years of experience in the field. He completed his fellowship in allergy and immunology at the U.S. Air Force Wilford Hall Medical Center, now the Wilford Hall Ambulatory Surgical Center, a medical facility at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio.
Tracy is currently a partner with Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology Associates of Omaha and has academic appointments at both the University of Nebraska and Creighton University. He helps manage 19 outreach clinics throughout Nebraska.
In 2019, Tracy was recognized as a Distinguished Fellow of the ACAAI, with numerous positions held during his time as a member, including the college’s Advocacy Council, Annual Meeting Program Committee, Board of Regents, Budget/Finance Committee, Ethics Committee, and Foundation Board. In 2020, he received the Bela Schick Lecture and Distinguished Service Award.
Tracy was also named to the Omaha Best Doctors lists in 2018, 2019, and 2020, as selected by his peers in the health care industry.
