Assistant Professor Sam Slowinski to lead nature walk on UNE’S coastal campus this fall

Assistant Professor Sam Slowinski to lead nature walk on UNE’S coastal campus on Oct. 4

University of New England Assistant Professor Sam Slowinski, Ph.D., will lead nature walks along UNE’s coastal campus in a monthly series this fall starting Sunday, Oct. 4.

Slowinski, who teaches in the School of Biological Sciences, will guide the group on a walk aimed at identifying local plants and birds while explaining the ecology of the forest and the Saco River Estuary.

The walks are open to students, faculty, professional staff, and members of the larger Biddeford community. Questions and observations are encouraged.

"The nature walk series will provide UNE students and the broader community an opportunity to get outside, identify plants and birds, learn about the Saco River Estuary, and get to know each other,” Slowinski said.

Meet at the front desk of the Jack S. Ketchum Library at 2 p.m. Other walks in the monthly series will be held on Nov. 1 and Dec. 6. All walks leave from the library shortly after 2 p.m.
