UNE eliminates admission fees for athletic events, welcoming community to join Nor'easter family
Beginning with the fall 2026 sports season, admission to all regular-season home athletic events at UNE will now be free for members of the public.
The change removes the previous $6 ticket price at football, men's and women's basketball, and men's and women's ice hockey games, making it easier for families, alumni, local residents, and sports fans throughout southern Maine to experience UNE Athletics.
"We want our local community to feel welcome on our campuses and to see UNE as a place where they belong," said UNE President James Herbert. "Our student-athletes represent the determination, teamwork, and spirit that define UNE. By removing admission fees, we're inviting everyone to come cheer on the Nor'easters, enjoy a great game, and become part of our community."
UNE sponsors 21 NCAA Division III varsity sports and regularly hosts athletic competitions on its Biddeford campus. Nor'easter athletics provide year-round opportunities for fans to connect with the University and support student-athletes competing at a high level.
The new policy reflects UNE's commitment to strengthening ties with neighboring communities and creating additional opportunities for residents to engage with campus life.
Whether attending a game for the first time or returning as a longtime fan, visitors can expect a welcoming atmosphere, competitive athletics, and a chance to experience the pride and tradition of UNE.
"This is about more than free admission," said UNE Director of Athletics Heather Davis. "It's about bringing people together. We hope local families, youth sports teams, alumni, and community members will make UNE games part of their plans and help create an even more vibrant advantage at home for our student-athletes.”
