Kenneth McCall lead speaker at congressional briefings on counterfeit drugs

Kenneth McCall, BSPharm, Pharm.D., professor and residency director at the College of Pharmacy, was recently the lead speaker at house and senate briefings in Washington, D.C., on counterfeit drugs.  

McCall joined patient advocates, pharmacy professionals, and federal and local law enforcement officials at the hearings. They discussed drug importation, fentanyl and counterfeits.

“Fake prescription pills have been found in 46 states and have killed people in 29 of them,” McCall told members of the house panel.

McCall is a board member of the Partnership for Safe Medicines (PSM). The briefings were hosted by PSM. The group is made up of patient advocates, health care professionals, and drug wholesalers and manufacturers, concerned about the dangers of counterfeit medications to patients.

“Counterfeits are a clear, present and growing danger to Americans,” McCall stated. “We should be tightening the supply chain, not loosening it.”
