Physical Therapy (D.P.T.)

When starting the Doctor of Physical Therapy program at UNE, I was overwhelmed by the quality and quantity of information I was presented with. I began to struggle academically and my confidence began to diminish. When meeting with one of the faculty members, the Student Academic Success Center was mentioned. I did my research and was intrigued when I saw that I could receive help from a learning specialist. I made an appointment for my consultation immediately.

Nora Krevans, the learning specialist, provided me with information and resources that were more than helpful, including test taking strategies, such as note-taking and studying tips. She assured to me that everyone learns in a different manner and that I was not alone on this difficult journey. I was also given information on the tutors for my program. They even have drop-in hours that don’t require an appointment!

After utilizing all of the SASC resources, I began to see improvement not only in my grades, but also in my confidence and self-esteem. To this day, I still use some of the test taking strategies that I learned from Nora and everyone at the SASC. For any student — of any program — having difficulty in their academics or even just needs some tips on how to survive this crazy thing we call grad school, I would absolutely recommend reaching out to SASC.
