Teresa Dzieweczynski, Krystal Mannion and Nicole Greaney publish on audience effects in female fish

Teresa Dzieweczynski, Ph.D., associate professor in the Department of Psychology, published an article in the most recent issue of the journal, Ethology.

The article, “Who’s watching me: Female Siamese fighting fish alter their interactions in response to an audience” featured two student co-authors, Krystal Mannion ’14, a Marine Science and Animal Behavior double major, and Nicole Greaney ’17, an Ocean Studies major. This is the second publication for Mannion and the first for Greaney, only a freshman when the article was accepted.

This study, conducted in the Dzieweczynski lab, is the first to document audience effects in female fish and one of the first to find changes in female behavior within a communication network, regardless of species.
