Anouar Majid interviewed by ‘IVN’ about two-party political system

Anouar Majid, Ph.D., vice president for Global Affairs and director of the Center for Global Humanities, was interviewed by IVN, a publication of the Independent Voter Project.  He was asked to share his views on the two-party political system in America and how it is perceived by American voters. He stated that there is, “ a sense of frustration and maybe even defeatism – they feel they are going against Goliath [with] no chance of changing things.”

According to Majid, that frustration leads to skepticism of career politicians and cynicism about the democratic process. He also discussed the way traditional American politics is viewed by the world at large.

“Majid explained that when people look at the United States today, they see much of the same language and syntax as they do from the 1950s,” wrote Caitlin Hurkes of IVN. “Other nations need to see the United States as the complex, diverse, and innovative country that it is, he said. Independent voices have to keep pushing through diverse views in as many social forums as possible.”
