Karen Pardue leads workshop at national nursing conference

Karen Pardue, Ph.D., R.N., C.N.E., A.N.E.F., associate dean for Academic Affairs in the Westbrook College of Health Professions, conducted an invited workshop July 25 and 26, 2016, for the National League for Nursing (NLN) at the organization’s headquarters in Washington, DC. Twenty-nine new nursing faculty from across the country attended the conference.

Pardue’s workshop, titled “Immersion for New Faculty,” examined the role of development and practice competencies inherent for faculty in higher education. It was co-facilitated by Elaine Tagliareni, chief program officer for the NLN. Pardue is a nationally recognized leader in developing role proficiency in academic faculty, having been inducted as a Fellow to the Academy of Nursing Education in 2007 in recognition of her contributions to pedagogical innovation and faculty development.
