Jennifer Audette, Ph.D., associate professor of physical therapy at UNE’s Westbrook College of Health Professions, was recently honored by the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) for her dedication to the profession.

Audette won the Dr. Ronnie Leavitt Award for Leadership in the Promotion of Social Responsibility in Physical Therapy during a reception in Boston on Feb. 16.

The award recognizes a member of the APTA Academy of Leadership and Innovation’s Global Health Special Interest Group whose contributions and actions have demonstrated leadership in the promotion of social responsibility.

"When it comes to service and leadership within the physical therapy profession, no one does this work for the work’s sake," Audette said in her acceptance speech. “It’s the people who support you, cheer you on, collaborate with you, and challenge you who ignite our careers and make it fun to be involved.”

Audette served 15 years on the APTA Academy of Leadership and Innovation Board of Directors as the director of social responsibility. Her term ended in February 2023.
