Julie M. Cunningham, B.S., B.F.A
After graduating from the Maine College of Art, Julie has been teaching ceramics to children and adults, as well as at the University of New England. She shows her work in New England and has participated in group exhibits throughout the country. She enjoys spending time outdoors with her husband and two children, exploring nature through various year round activities. Her time spent outdoors has served to inform her own ceramic work. Julie looks to the natural world for how it teaches us about coexistence, change, adaptation, reliance, and beauty. She considers the shapes in nature and makes reference to these forms by using their gestures and visual characteristics within her work. Through clay, she is able to create three dimensional forms and wall pieces which have a dialogue with organic forms.
