IGEP Site Coordinator
Medicine Bag Co-Facilitator
Location
Laura Grover has been with the PA Program since October 2018 and comes from a background in social work, primarily focusing on young people experiencing homelessness. From over a decade of this work, Laura has a wealth of knowledge on program development and education, trauma-informed care, creating healthy and engaging client relationships, motivational interviewing skills, and the practice of self-care. Laura is particularly interested in the ways in which poverty and isolation are public health issues and how provider-patient relationships can help bridge gaps to greater community resources and help individuals secure a sense of belonging. In the PA Program, Laura helps coordinate didactic year labs and student testing, edits syllabi and tracks medical supplies, as well as collects and organizes clinical rotation data. Also, as the IGEP Coordinator, Laura builds elder teacher and caretaker relationships and performs the logistical groundwork for the Interdiciplinary Geriatric Education Program. Laura also, along with Joe Wolfberg, facilitates the summer course Medicine Bag, as a way to bring the educational focus onto deep humanity when the rigorous PA anatomy course load is in full swing. In their non-PA-Program-time, Laura is an illustrator and cartoonist, a mother of an observant young child, and generally likes to make or grow or create things with their hands.
