UNE Field Complex Expansion

It is an exciting time to be a Nor’easter! The success and growth of our athletic programs, such as football and rugby, has necessitated a growth in our athletics facilities. This fall, a 42,000 square foot expansion to the Harold Alfond Forum was completed to include an expanded strength and conditioning room, an additional dividable varsity team locker room that provides us with flexibility and increases our locker count by nearly 150, staff offices, a significantly larger laundry and storage room, and a venue space that can hold up to 500 people.  

Once our spring season ends in 2018, construction of an athletics field complex will begin. Across the parking lot and behind the Sokokis Residence Hall, a new turf field will be constructed to be the home of the men’s and women’s lacrosse teams and the field hockey team. The current Big Blue Turf will be renovated to become the home field for both the football and softball teams. Bleachers, scoreboards, press boxes, team benches and dugouts, and other components will also be added. The field complex is scheduled to be completed in time for the fall teams’ preseason.
