School overview

In the UNE School of Mathematical and Physical Sciences, we emphasize the importance of problem-solving and communication skills.

Our programs integrate theory, technology, and experimentation, combining cutting-edge teaching practices with modern, professional techniques.

As a student, you’ll gain expertise in mathematical and computer-based modeling for analysis, prediction, and decision making, and receive training in lab techniques, instrumentation, and computational platforms. You’ll also gain professional experience, solving real-world problems through internships and research with faculty.

The small class sizes make it so I’ve been able to easily connect with professors...and get more in-depth one-on-one time. It makes it easier to go to office hours or get more familiar with the professors." Kayla Archambault '20

Beautiful Location

As a student in our School of Mathematical and Physical Sciences undergraduate programs, you study on UNE's scenic Biddeford Campus, where the waters of the Saco River flow into the Atlantic Ocean. Recently named the youngest city in Maine, Biddeford and its twin city, Saco, boast an up-and-coming, hip downtown offering delicious eateries, exciting social and cultural events, and more. With the transformation of the old mills into restaurants, breweries, housing, and retailers, there is something for everyone to explore.
