Books and Supplies
The costs will vary depending on the courses the student is taking. The Financial Aid Office uses $1,200 for the first year, $800 for the second year and $300 for the third year as a standard allowance for books and supplies for student budget purposes. The student's actual expenses may vary. An equipment allowance of $350 is included in the first-year cost of attendance.
Indirect costs are included in the student's financial aid budget. These are not direct charges from the university, but allowances that are given to cover expenses that the student may have while attending school. Indirect costs can only be considered for the months that the student is enrolled.

Students are required to enroll in UNE's Student Medical Insurance Plan unless proof of comparable insurance is demonstrated and waiver is completed online (2020-2021 Academic Year waiver/enrollment session is from July 1 through August 14, 2020).
The cost for UNE's 2020–2021 annual health insurance policy for graduate/professional students (except first-year College of Osteopathic Medicine students) is $4,174 for the 9/01/2020–8/31/2021 coverage period. Due to a longer academic year, health insurance rates for first-year College of Osteopathic Medicine students is $4,883. Students whose program (MSNA, PA, MSOT) begins in Summer 2020 are charged $1,044 for the summer coverage period of 6/01/2020–8/31/2020, and then the annual coverage rate of $4,174. Students enrolled in the new PSM in Ocean Food Systems Program are charged $1,129 for summer coverage period of 5/20/2020–8/31/2020, and then the annual coverage rate of $4,174, to be determined for the new academic year. Students should waive/enroll for the summer semester (beginning in April) and then re-enroll/waive for the following academic year, starting on July 1.
