Excellence in Occupational Therapy

Professor Gary Kielhofner was a prolific scholar and visionary who developed the Model of Human Occupation (MOHO) to better understand those with disabilities. Dr. Kielhofner was dedicated to making a difference in the lives of those served in occupational therapy and his ideas, concepts, and vision continue to serve as the foundation for client-centered practice.

He mentored countless faculty and students throughout the world. Dr. Kielhofner visited the University of New England regularly to share his passion and vision for the profession. He consulted on numerous projects and enhanced the education of UNE students. He had a gift for bringing students and faculty together and generously provided support, advice and guidance. As a tribute to Dr. Kielhofner’s contributions to UNE, the Occupational Therapy Department has established this scholarship. The scholarship is provided to students who show excellence in scholarship related to the Model of Human Occupation and provides assistance for students presenting this scholarship at national or international conferences.
