Full-time awards (for financial aid purposes) for Master of Social Work students are based on an average of 16 credits per semester, for fall and spring semesters.

If you are enrolled for more or less than 16 credit hours a semester and wish to have your financial aid awards updated to reflect actual tuition costs, please email Student Financial Services. Please also notify our office if they plan to attend for the summer and are not advanced standing. The additional amount will be included under Federal Graduate PLUS Loan eligibility.

If you are enrolling for the summer, please email Student Financial Services with intended credit hours if you wish to receive financial aid. Living expenses for the summer are based on the number of months you are enrolled.

Books and Supplies

The costs will vary depending on the courses the student is taking. The Financial Aid Office uses $750 for full-time students enrolled for fall and spring as a standard allowance for budget purposes. Your actual expenses may vary.

Indirect Costs

Indirect costs are included in your financial aid budget. These are not direct charges from the University, but allowances that are given to cover expenses that you may incur while attending school. Indirect costs can only be considered for the months you are enrolled.

The figures listed below are based on attending for fall and spring semesters (September–May):

  • $16,650 Living Expenses (housing, food, utilities)
  • $3,600 Transportation/Travel costs
  • $3,150 Personal/Misc. costs
