We offer qualified students the option of participating in our Honors Program and graduating with Honors. This includes significant research, scholarship, or creative activity under the direction of a faculty member. You should consult with your major advisor for specific criteria and requirements.
In our Laboratory Science program, you’ll engage in hands-on learning by working with faculty on research projects, conducting your own lab experiments, and getting on-the-job experience through internships – because at UNE we believe in learning by doing.
We offer a breadth of research opportunities not commonly found at the undergraduate level – from synthesizing bioactive compounds and engineering protein materials to synthesizing small molecule drugs and exploring environmental toxicology,

At UNE, Laboratory Science students can spend a semester abroad and stay on track with their rigorous lab requirements. Our semester-long programs in Tangier, Morocco, and Seville, Spain, offer science labs in English. Or, if you prefer a shorter study abroad experience, we offer a variety of faculty-led travel courses that will take you on exciting trips to places such as Belize, Mexico, Panama, Costa Rica, Iceland, Italy, and Kenya.
