According to the National Center for Interprofessional Practice and Education, the world is in great need of health professionals who are able to work together on teams in order to reduce medical errors and improve patient safety and the overall quality of health care. With hopes of working toward this goal, UNE COM has turned to Interprofessional Education and Practice (IPE).

COM’s required curriculum and elective offerings adhere to the principles established by the National Center for Interprofessional Practice and Education. Throughout the academic years, you will participate in learning experiences that lay the foundation for application of collaboration. If you are a fully matriculated COM student interested in applying for a mini-grant, please visit our mini-grant page.

The IPE curriculum and electives are coordinated through the Interprofessional Practice and Education Subcommittee, under the auspices of the COM Curriculum Advisory Committee. The subcommittee meets on the second Tuesday of every month to collaborate on the development and implementation of high quality interprofessional learning experiences targeting the national IPEC Core Competencies and other high standards. For more information, please contact COM’s IPE Coordinator Jenifer Van Deusen at jvandeusen2@une.edu.
