As a COM student at UNE, you have the opportunity to collaborate with faculty (PDF) in a broad range of basic science, clinical, and medical education research. Among the faculty projects there are six areas of concentration.

UNE COM students can apply for funding to conduct research projects through either the UNE COM Dean’s office (Peter Morgane Student Research Fellowship) or the UNE COM SGA (Carmen Pettapiece Student Research Fellowship), or the Center for Excellence in Interprofessional Education. These are great opportunities if you wish to participate and obtain experience in biomedical, clinical, experiential, or translational research either at UNE or at other locations nationally/globally. Research projects can have a basic science, community health, clinical, and/or osteopathic orientation. Applications are evaluated through respective review processes and selections are made accordingly. There are also externally funded opportunities for which students can apply.

Applications are now open for UNE COM Peter Morgane and Carmen Pettapiece Student Research Fellowships

Student peer reviewers welcome

The Journal of the American Osteopathic Association (JAOA) recognizes the importance of engaging students in scholarly activity at an early stage. To assist in this process, the JAOA is opening its peer review process to osteopathic medical students. Interested students should email the JAOA and include their CV, the name and email address of the mentor who has agreed to guide them in the peer review process, and any areas of interest.
