What are My Benefits?
The University offers a wide variety of benefits that allows people to design a benefits package tailored to their needs. The 2025 Benefits Guide (PDF) offers a summary of the University's current benefit options and associated premiums. The additional resources offered here will help you get the most of your benefits. There is more information available on these and other benefit options at www.une.edu/hr/benefits. Once enrolled in benefits, we recommend that you regularly review your contact information (mailing address, email, and phone number) with elected insurance carriers to make sure it is up-to-date.

Health Insurance Resources

- Contact Cigna One Guide Enrollment Support Line (PDF) to speak to a Cigna representative and get your questions answered. They can help compare the three medical plans, confirm if your doctor is in-network, and more.
- Cigna’s Easy Choice tool gives you personalized guidance to help find the medical plan that’s the best fit for you. You can use it from just about anywhere. All you have to do is answer a few quick questions about your needs and preferences. Then, you’ll see available plans ranked by what matters most to you and you can compare your options side-by-side. It is recommended that you complete this helpful Cigna’s Easy Choice worksheet (PDF) before accessing the Easy Choice tool. To use this feature, visit Cigna’s Easy Choice tool and use the applicable 2025 Employee Access Code (PDF).

Retirement Resources
- Employees can elect to contribute to any combination of the pre-tax and post-tax savings options up to the IRS annual contribution limits. There is no waiting period to begin contributing. Eligible employees can enroll and increase or decrease their contribution percentage in UNE’s 403(b) at any time.
- To enroll, go to www.netbenefits.com/une and click on the “Register as a new user” link at the bottom of the page. The system will guide you through the enrollment process. If you need help enrolling, contact the Fidelity Retirement Benefits Line at 1 (800) 343-0860.
- UNE provides an employer match for both pre-tax and Roth (post-tax) employee contributions, up to a combined match limit of 8%, to the Fidelity 403(b) retirement plan. This provides you with more options for your retirement planning.
- Regular full- and half-time employees, and adjunct faculty or temporary professional staff who are expected to work more than 1,000 hours per year, are eligible for UNE’s employer match after 12 months of service at UNE, or otherwise have 12 months of higher education service. Employees who are not expected to work more than 1,000 hours in a year are not eligible for the match. If such an adjunct faculty or temporary professional staff does work 1,000 hours in a year, special eligibility rules apply. Please review the Summary Plan Description for more details and consult with Human Resources for specific situations.
- Pre-tax Contributions: UNE will match a participant's pre-tax contributions on a dollar-for-dollar basis, up to a combined match limit with the post-tax Roth contribution of 8%.
- Post-tax Contributions (Roth): UNE will match a participant’s post-tax (Roth) contributions on a dollar-for-dollar basis, up to a combined match limit with the pre-tax contribution of 8%. Roth contributions can be a powerful way to save for retirement, as the employee deferral is typically non-taxable at the time of qualified withdrawal.
